Being part of something as big as being Mr or Miss anything is a challenging title to carry. This includes representing a community of people and being passed over responsibilities and duties that need to be upheld. Three finalists have made it to the running of Mr Vaal 2021.
Ndumiso Miya (25), currently running and a finalist for Mr Vaal 2021. Born and bred in Pietermaritzburg KwaZulu-Natal, Ndumiso inspires to make a difference which derives from his passion to put an end to Gender Based Violence. Ndumiso mentions that his biggest wish is for “a world full of better men and a kind that will protect and feel safe around”.
Not only does Ndumiso want to fix social injustices, he optioned his N6 at the UMgungundlovu TVET College where he studied Electrical Engineering and he is currently working on his Diploma in Engineering Process Control at the Vaal University of Technology.
Besides fighting crime and being an engineer, Ndumiso mentions that during his spare time, he loves perusing his love for music and how he uses this talent to gravitate closer to God which includes spending more time in church with close family and friends.
The initial intention for entering Mr Vaal, Ndumiso emphasizes that it’s because of his attributes. He’s described as a “well rounded” person and people often seek advice from him. Being transparent, excellent at everything that he does, honest and being resilient and a few ethics and values make him stand out from the rest of the other contestants.
When asked what would be the first thing he changes if he could be a president for a day, he answered “it would be a nightmare to change things overnight. It would not be possible” though, he does mention that he would change the health care system and would opt for better and equal health care.
